Scope of the Committee

The Farsi Programs Committee (FPC) of IEC-Houston is a committee under IEC-Programs, responsible for planning and managing programs, events and activities primarily in the Farsi language. The Committee’s programs and activities shall be in line with the general policies of IEC-Houston. The committee reports to the IEC Board through the Director of Programs for all matters related to programming and events. The term of the committee coincides with the term of the Board of Directors, however, changes can be made during a Board’s term under special circumstances, if the Board deems necessary to improve the quality and offering of programs to the community

Primary Goal of the Committee

Regular and Special Programs

The committee holds regular programs every Friday night.

The committee is also responsible for organizing the following Special Programs throughout the year:

1. Farsi weekly programs throughout the year based on historical events with main focus on lives of Ahlul Bayt (AS) as well as other occasions and events in the world which might have impacted the lives of Muslims and oppressed people.
2. Ten days of Muharram program including: Speeches by respected individuals, Matam and Noha by well-respected maddah, poetries by other volunteers from the community.
3. Arbaeen programs with speakers and Noha similar to Muharram programs.
4. Farsi New Year – Nowruz.
5. Events related to the Islamic Republic such as victory of Islamic Revolution, Return of Imam Khomeini RA to Iran and his demise.
6. Participating in IEC Houston fundraising events.
7. Seasonal picnics and family gathering for the community.
8. Educational programs, e.g., inviting special speakers and scholars, book exhibitions, etc. to promote the core values of Islamic culture and Ahlul Bayt (AS) path.
9. Managing / coordinating marriage ceremonies for the community members.
10. Youth plans and events, e.g., theatres, sports games, camping, etc.
